Firmware Emulation Engineer (Linux)

Build emulation substrates that let AI agents execute, probe, and reason over unfamiliar Linux firmware at scale.

§The role

Zealot's emulation stack lets autonomous agents boot, instrument, and interrogate opaque firmware — the foundation of every exploit pipeline we ship. You'll own the Linux surface of that stack.

§What you'll do

  • Extend our QEMU/Styx fork with new peripheral models, syscall handlers, and introspection hooks.
  • Drive coverage on real-world targets shipped by vendors we don't have SDKs for.
  • Partner with the AI team to expose emulator state to agents in a way they can actually reason about.
  • Own reliability: when an agent's run diverges from silicon, you find out why.

§Who we're looking for

  • Deep fluency in Linux internals, kernel subsystems, and userland bring-up.
  • Reverse engineering chops — IDA, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, whatever you like.
  • Comfort in C, Rust, and Python; you've hacked on emulators or virtualization stacks before.
  • Clearance-eligible, U.S. person.
